Fourth-grade students at DPS learn how to play the flute.

Fourth grade students at DPS had the opportunity to test out a variety of musical instruments Thursday morning with the help of the East Greenbush Instrumental Music staff. Students participated in hands-on experiences with different instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello, and bass. They were taught how each instrument was played, and discovered which was the best fit for them.

All students begin learning a instrument in fifth grades, and this introduction helps them decide which instrument they feel they would like to learn the following year.

The East Greenbush Instrumental Music staff will visit all fourth grade classes at each elementary school giving them the chance to test out instruments and explore their musical interest.
