The Bell Top Book Club wrapped up with a special Google Meet visit from Growing Home author Beth Ferry and illustrators the Fan Brothers. Students listened as Beth Ferry read the final chapter aloud and she shared this was the first time she had ever read the book to a student audience.
Following the reading, the Fan Brothers led a drawing tutorial of “Toasty the Goldfish.” Students held up their artwork for the creators to see, and a student from each grade level was chosen to ask a question.
“It was truly heartwarming to watch them interact with our students. They were grateful, down-to-earth, and left us all with inspiring words of advice,” said Tracy Cornell, 4th Grade Teacher and Bell Top Book Club Advisor. “The end of each book club experience always feels a little bittersweet, like saying goodbye to a good friend. Being able to wrap up our month of reading together alongside the creators of the book made for an unforgettable ending.”
