The Columbia Clay Target Team just finished an impressive spring season, culminating with a 3rd place finish out of 24 teams in the Foothills Challenge on Friday.
This year, the team consisted of 20 student athletes who represented the school through the New York State Clay Target League. Throughout the season, the team demonstrated commitment, sportsmanship, and continuous improvement, ultimately finishing 5th in the conference standings.
Spring Season Highlights:
- Several athletes achieved a remarkable accomplishment by shooting a clean round without missing a single target
- Ryan Garrison, Mason Clarke, Jackson Cooper, and Sean Buchan
- Columbia placed 3rd out of 24 teams at the Foothills Challenge on Friday at the Hudson Falls Fish and Game Club
- Ryan Garrison earned a Gold Medal in the Boys Varsity Division (shot 49 of 50 targets successfully and tied for the best male shooter of the event among 270 participants)
- Mason Clarke captured a Gold Medal in the Modified Division
“While the awards and accolades are certainly worth celebrating, the most impressive accomplishment may be the tremendous growth shown by the entire team throughout the season,” said Laura Gedney, coach of the Columbia Clay Target Team. “Each athlete contributed to the team’s success through their hard work. We are incredibly proud of what these students achieved and look forward to building on this success in future seasons.”
Congratulations to the team and special thanks to the Nassau Sportsmen’s Club for their support throughout the season!
