Columbia took a 5-1 lead into the 6th inning with a balanced attack. Madison Marr went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, Breigh Urquhart scored a runner on a ground out, and Abigail Connell and Bryce Stark each hit solo home runs.

Galligan earned the win in the pitcher’s circle, throwing 6 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts. She allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) before Stella Guzek was called out of the bullpen to close out the game. Guzek induced a game-ending groundout to shortstop with the tying run on third base.

“What I’m most proud about our girls is all year we’ve been able to come up in the big moment,” Columbia Head Coach Shawn Gibson told the media after the game. “Sophia and Stella have been carrying us all year, and it was nice to see them come in and shut it down at the end. The sophomores came up big with a couple big bombs. Just really proud of the girls. Fantastic season, and I hope we can keep it going.”

The Blue Devils advance to the NYS Regionals where they will play Fayeteville-Manlius from Section 3 in Syracuse on Friday. The game will be played at Carrier Park in DeWitt, NY starting at 5:00 p.m.

Congratulations to the Blue Devils!
