During a fun, hands-on activity on Tuesday, students transformed into Shape Constructors as they reviewed different shapes, including circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. Various shape stations were set up around the room, each featuring an activity designed to help students learn more about shapes.
At the Build-a-Shape Station, students learned how to construct a cube using toothpicks and marshmallows while reviewing edges, faces, and vertices. Once completed, they were challenged to build either a rectangular prism or a pyramid.
At the Shape Buffet Station, students selected shapes to create a smiley-face character, then gave it a name and description. Next, students visited the Sort-a-Shape Station, where they categorized an assortment of real-life 3D objects by matching them to the correct shape name. At the Roll-a-Shape Station, students worked in pairs and practiced drawing 2D shapes together.
Lastly, at the I Spy Station, students completed a drawing by adding their own real-world shapes and then counted how many of each shape they could find in the finished picture.
The activity provided an interactive and engaging way for students to review their understanding of 2D and 3D shapes.
