Columbia High School Participation in Government classes hosted their Legislative Day for the spring semester on Thursday in the school auditorium with students presenting their bills to classmates. The bills focused on making improvements to the student experience at Columbia High School and in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
After all of the bills were presented, students lobbied for votes with their classmates to simulate the legislative process.
The winning project, voted on by students, was Regulation of Data Centers and AI in the United States by Christopher Austin ’26.
The event also featured special presentations from North Greenbush Town Supervisor Joe Bott and the League of Women Voters and a voter registration for eligible students.

About Participation in Government Class
Participation in Government is a required class for seniors at Columbia High School. The Legislative Day included all second semester classes taught by Social Studies Teachers Kelley Sheraw and Jeff Tooker.
