Bell Top 5th graders received graduation certificates on Thursday morning in front of their families at the Moving Up Ceremony in the school gym. Teachers Alyssa Breznak, Chris LaBarge, and Lauren Castellana, along with Principal Mike Neumann, Superintendent Dr. Kurtis Kotes, and other Bell Top teachers and staff, congratulated the students for successfully completing elementary school.
The Moving Up Ceremony began with a processional and then students performed a song for families in attendance.
Mr. LaBarge and Mrs. Breznak recognized six students with awards from the NYS Attorney General, NYS Comptroller, and the Bell Top Beacon Award.
The 5th grade teachers played a video of them reading “Be You!” by Peter H. Reynolds, and a separate video of the other Bell Top teachers sharing their good wishes with the students. Students also shared the personal precepts they selected to guide them throughout their school careers.
“I am incredibly proud of our 5th grade students,” said Mr. Neumann. “They are an unforgettable group. Goff Middle School is getting some wonderful students and great kids. Thank you to Mr. LaBarge, Mrs. Breznak and Mrs. Castellana for all their hard work making this an amazing event.”

Attorney General’s Triple “C” Awards

Each year Comptroller DiNapoli’s Student Achievement Awards recognize students who show academic excellence and leadership potential through activities that improve their school or community. This award is being awarded to two students from the 2025-2026 Bell Top class this year.

Bell Top Beacon Award
The Bell Top Beacon Award is presented to a fifth grade student who reflects the values of outstanding character that help make Bell Top School a welcoming community for all. Established to honor former staff members, this award recognizes a student who consistently shines as a positive example to others through compassion, friendship, and thoughtful actions. The recipient of the Bell Top Beacon Award demonstrates a commitment to making everyone feel valued, included, and supported during their years at Bell Top. Through everyday acts of kindness, encouragement, and leadership, this student serves as a beacon of light within the school community and leaves a lasting impact on classmates, staff, and younger students alike.
