Fifth grade students at Genet Elementary School officially completed elementary school as they received certificates at their Moving Up Ceremony on Wednesday morning in the school auditorium.
The students will attend Howard L. Goff Middle School as 6th graders in September.
During the ceremony, the 5th grade teachers – including Justin Russello, Dan Scher, Jessica VanSkiver and Liz Corey – Principal Wayne Grignon and Assistant Superintendent Lisa Mahar congratulated the students.
Students were recognized for their academic and artistic accomplishments.
And in a heartwarming moment, the Genet kindergarten classes made a special appearance and sang the song “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars to their “5th grade buddies.” Coincidentally, the 5th graders closed the ceremony by performing the very same song.
