Board of Education Meeting – Wednesday, July 15

A Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Administration Conference Room, 29 Englewood Ave., East Greenbush, NY 12061. There will be an organizational meeting followed by the regular board meeting.

The East Greenbush Central School District appointed Sean Graney as the new assistant principal for 7th grade at Howard L. Goff Middle School at the public Board of Education meeting on Wednesday evening. He will succeed Riley O’Malley, who was recently named principal of Green Meadow Elementary School. Mr. Graney will officially begin his new role on July 1.

Mr. Graney spent the first seven years of his career as a social studies teacher. He currently serves as an assistant principal at Bethlehem High School where he oversees academic progress, attendance, and student conduct for juniors and seniors.

“I am extremely honored and excited to join the Goff Middle School community and the East Greenbush Central School District,” Mr. Graney said. “Middle school is a pivotal time in a student’s life, and I believe the best schools are built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a genuine commitment to every student. I look forward to partnering with the teachers, staff, students, and families to create a school where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and excited to begin building the relationships that help students grow both academically and personally.”

During his time at Bethlehem, Mr. Graney has taken on several key leadership roles. He designs and manages the comprehensive master schedule for all high school students, he supervises the Bethlehem Extended Education Program, which supports students through intervention strategies, and he developed and implemented the Senior Absence Remediation Program.

“Mr. Graney is a dedicated and experienced educator with a strong commitment to building positive relationships, supporting student success, and fostering an inclusive school community,” said Goff Interim Principal Jim McHugh.

Mr. Graney has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Russell Sage College, a master’s degree in education from The College of Saint Rose, and a certificate in administration from SUNY Plattsburgh.
