Artificial turf is being installed at the new field behind Howard L. Goff Middle School.
Now that schools are closed for summer vacation, construction has ramped up for Phase 1B and Phase 2 of the East Greenbush Central School District’s Capital Project “Building a Brighter Future.”
Work at Red Mill Elementary School includes asbestos abatement, replacement of the sewer lines beneath the school, installation of new boilers, restoration of exterior brick, and replacement of the playground.
Additionally, the Goff Middle School turf field and track is taking shape. The majority of the artificial turf has been installed, as well as both goal posts, the scoreboard and exterior fence.
At the north side of the school (between Goff and the Sorensco fields), the multipurpose courts – which will have basketball, pickleball, and tennis lines – are in progress. Topsoil was stripped, drainage was installed, courts have been paved, and the fence has been installed.
“We continue to be pleased with the focus and the work of our engineers, construction manager and contractors on our capital project,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kurtis Kotes. “Our team clearly understands the vision of the district and is working responsibly with the resources the community has afforded us to best improve all of our facilities. This phase of the project remains on schedule and we are excited to be able to invite the community to tour this work when it is ready in the fall.”
