Riya Malge ’28 received the Overall Excellence Award at UAlbany’s RNA Institute this summer for her project “Possible Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease as Identified by Differential Gene Expression, Alternative Splicing, and DNA Methylation.”
Riya is a junior and is entering her second year in the Columbia Science Research Program where she continues her work in bioinformatics under the guidance of Dr. Claudia Lennon.
To achieve this award, Riya learned how to analyze RNA sequence data at the RNA Institute’s Bioinformatics Summer Camp then applied these techniques to her own area of research interest.
