Capital Project Breaking News
The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a Capital Project that would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools. The estimated cost for the proposed project is $116 million, but due to state building aid and expiring debt, it is estimated there would be no additional impact to local taxpayers.

East Greenbush CSD Appoints Next Principals for Green Meadow and Red Mill Elementary Schools
The East Greenbush CSD appointed Riley O’Malley as the next principal of Green Meadow Elementary School and James Derby as the next principal of Red Mill Elementary School, following a vote by the Board of Education on Wednesday evening. They will start their new positions on July 1, 2026, succeeding Daniel Garab and Helen Squillace who are both retiring at the end of the school year.
Winter Recess
All schools will be closed for Winter Recess starting Monday, February 16 through Friday, February 20. Schools will reopen on Monday, February 23.
Class of 2026 Cap and Gown Orders Due March 1
Attention seniors! Orders for graduation caps and gowns are due by Sunday, March 1.
Inside the Classroom: Valerie Cafarelli’s Ceramics/Sculpture Class
Take a look inside the classroom of Columbia Art Teacher Valerie Cafarelli. Students in her Ceramics/Sculpture class are making fantastical animal hybrids called alebrijes based on inspiration from Mexican papier-mâché artist Pedro Linares.
Board of Education Meeting – February 11
The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Administration Conference Room. The public may attend the meeting in person or watch the live stream.
