Students remove bricks from wallSeventh and eighth grade students in Jennifer Fey’s German class marked the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall this month. Through videos and readings, the students learned what led up to the construction of the Wall, what life was like on either side of the Wall, and about a few of the many escape attempts during the 28 years of the Wall’s existence.

Then each student created a “brick” with their name and symbols or words of peace and hope. The wall of bricks was first displayed in a hallway near their classroom on November 1 and then the students removed the bricks on November 12 to symbolize the wall coming down.
