Chromebook Security

The East Greenbush CSD Lighthouse 1:1 chromebook program is a K-12 program that provides district owned and managed chromebook devices to more than 4,000 students. In order to maintain online safety and security, and to provide for the protection of student data, the district utilizes a filtering and monitoring system known as Go Guardian.

Go Guardian is a state of the art system that includes:

  • Filtering of all devices (24 hours per day, 365 days per year) with the ability to run student browsing data through an algorithm that looks for any activity that may include inappropriate information such as violence, self-harm and other topics
  • Alerts sent to school administrators when inappropriate content is detected
  • Monitoring of student browsing activity and searches during the school day

Our online security measures, together with parent support, allow students participating in the Lighthouse Chromebook 1:1 program to enjoy the benefits of many enhanced learning opportunities afforded by the chromebook devices.
