Travelers at the Joseph L. Bruno Rail Station in Rensselaer were treated to a surprise concert on Friday morning as they waited for trains and said farewell to family and friends. The performance of Holiday Brass Caroling was provided by Columbia High School band students.
Columbia High School’s Caitlin Weinheimer ’24 was named the Classical Student Musician of the Month for December by WMHT-FM. Weinheimer is a violinist in the Columbia Chamber Orchestra as well as concertmaster of the Empire State Youth Orchestra Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations!

Goff General Music students learned about records, turntables, musical technology and the history of hip hop from local musician DJ Trumastr on Tuesday.
On a cold and rainy Monday morning, the Goff Jazz Band filled the Empire State Plaza concourse with warmth and holiday spirit as they played a free concert for parents, state workers and visitors. Under the direction of music teacher David Bresnahan, the students performed nearly 20 songs as a full band and smaller ensembles, including holiday favorites such as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Hark the Herald.
