Green Meadow Named 2021 National Blue Ribbon School

Green Meadow Elementary School was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on Tuesday morning. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance. Green Meadow is one of only 325 schools in the country, including one of 19 schools in New York to receive the 2021 National Blue Ribbon School award. Congratulations to Green Meadow students, teachers, staff and families!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

In order to be in compliance with the CDC and New York State guidelines regarding COVID-19, Columbia High School has made some changes to the daily arrival and dismissal procedures for this year.

Arrival Procedures

Parent drop-offs will begin at 7:10 a.m. Parents driving students should use the bus loop and can drop students off at the designated entrance as listed below. Student drivers should arrive between 7:00-7:10 a.m., park and use the designated entrance to access the building, where temperatures will be checked.

Students with last names starting with A-L will enter through the Main Entrance and students with last names starting with M-Z will enter through the West Lobby.

Dismissal Procedures

For afternoon dismissal, we ask that parents plan to arrive after 2:10 p.m. and pick up students in the lower parking lot. All buses and student drivers will be dismissed beginning at 2:00 p.m. to avoid congestion in the lower lot.

Face Coverings/Masks

Face masks covering both the mouth and nose will be required for all students, staff and visitors inside schools and on school buses regardless of vaccination status. Bandanas and neck gaiters will not be permitted.

Masks will be optional when outdoors on school property.

Students will be provided mask breaks when seated in class and socially distanced.

Only those with medically documented reasons for not wearing face coverings would be exempt from this mandate.

Temperature Checks

School staff will conduct temperature checks of students as they enter school each day. If a student has a fever (100 degrees or higher), they will be sent to the designated isolation room to be evaluated by a school nurse. Parents will be contacted immediately and asked to come pick up their child.

Daily Health Screenings

Parents/guardians are asked to check their children for COVID-19 symptoms each morning. Students exhibiting one of the following symptoms should not be sent to school that day. Please keep your child at home and call your family doctor.

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

The Health Screening Form from last year does not need to be submitted.
