COVID-19 Updates and Information

Grades 3-5 will return for full time in-person learning starting Monday, April 26, which will fully reopen all elementary schools. The K-12 Full Remote program will still be available to families who choose that option. Due to state regulations, Columbia and Goff will remain in the Hybrid Model at this time. The East Greenbush CSD will continue to evaluate options for Columbia and Goff students to receive increased in-person learning at 6 feet social distancing where possible.

Columbian Yearbooks Available for Pickup Starting August 17 – Posted August 13, 2020
Columbia High School’s 2019-20 yearbooks have arrived and are ready for distribution! To follow proper physical distancing protocols, yearbook distribution will occur as a curbside pickup over several days next week. More information.

Columbian Yearbooks Delayed – Posted July 14, 2020
Columbia High School was notified by LifeTouch that the Columbian Yearbooks continue to be delayed. We know you want your yearbooks and we would love nothing more than to distribute them to you. Unfortunately, LifeTouch is unable to give us a tentative date of when they will ship. When they do come in, the school will notify everyone with pickup dates and times, as we have to follow social distancing protocols. More information.

Columbia High School will host Diploma Ceremonies for the Class of 2020 on Saturday, June 27 on the CHS football field. In order to maintain the safety of everyone involved, the school is planning to host 10 small ceremonies with 30 graduates, and their parents, at each event. Watch Graduation.

Parades to Deliver Graduation Lawn Signs Scheduled for May 20 and 21 – Posted May 19, 2020
Columbia High School teachers and staff, and members of the East Greenbush Education Foundation, will be delivering congratulatory lawn signs on Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21 to the homes of graduating seniors. The lawn signs will be distributed during parades led by East Greenbush school buses as a way to celebrate the Class of 2020. More information.

Coronavirus Update: Schools Remain Closed Through April 29, June Regents Exams Canceled – Posted April 6, 2020
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that all public schools in New York State will remain closed through April 29 due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Additionally, Board of Regents Chancellor Betty Rosa announced that the Regents Examinations scheduled for June 2020 will be canceled. No decision has been made regarding the August 2020 Regents Exams. More information.

Discounted Price for Columbian Yearbook Ends January 17 – Posted January 7, 2020
Students can order the 2019-20 Columbian Yearbook for a special pre-sale price of $55.00 until January 17. From January 18 through March 27, students can pre-order a yearbook for $60.00 to guarantee they receive one. If there are yearbooks to sell after they arrive, the price is $65.00. Driver Education Information – Spring 2020 – Posted January 6, 2020
Registration for the Spring 2020 Driver Education class at Columbia High School will open starting Wednesday, January 8. In order to register, students must submit a registration form (available in the Columbia Main Office) and the class fee of $450 ($490 for out-of-district students). Classes begin the week of February 3, 2020. More information. 

Columbia Graduation Time Changed to 10:00 a.m. – Posted December 13, 2019
The start time for the Columbia High School graduation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at the McDonough Sports Complex at HVCC has been changed from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. More information. 

Last Day to Order Cap and Gown in Person is November 14 – Posted November 13, 2019
Graduation is coming and it’s time for seniors to order their caps and gowns. The last day to order a cap and gown in person is on Thursday, November 14. A Josten’s Representative will be outside the cafeteria from 10:00-1:00. Visit Jostens website.

Driver Education Registration Now Open – Posted August 21, 2019
Registration for the Fall 2019 Driver Education class at Columbia High School will be open starting Wednesday, August 21. In order to register, students must submit a registration form (available in the Columbia Main Office) and the class fee of $450 ($490 for out-of-district students) by check, bank check or money order made out to East Greenbush CSD. Student Parking Sign-Up Information – Posted August 6, 2019
Student parking applications for Columbia High School seniors will be accepted on Wednesday, August 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the main lobby. All completed paperwork and the fee must be brought to school at the time of applying. More information.

Students should clean out their lockers on Friday, 6/14 and Monday, 6/17.  Lockers will be locked down and inaccessible after 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Columbia’s Junior Prom for the Class of 2020 will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the high school. Tickets cost $70/person and are on sale through Wednesday, May 8. More information.

Thanks to the generosity of students, their families, school staff and the community, the Columbia Guidance Office is overflowing with beautiful prom dresses for students to look at and try on for the upcoming junior and senior proms. Senior portraits for the Class of 2020 will be offered at Columbia High School from April 1, 2019 through April 17, 2019. Sign-ups to take your senior portrait are completed online and are to be done before you take your picture. More information.

Candyland Snoball Dance Posted January 28, 2019
This years’ Snoball Dance will be held on Saturday, February 2 from 7-10 p.m. Tickets will be on sale for $10.00 each on Wednesday, January 30 through Friday, February 1, periods 3-8 outside of the cafeteria. If you are bringing an out of district guest to the dance, don’t forget to complete your paperwork with your Assistant Principal. Bring the completed paperwork with you to submit when you purchase your guest’s ticket. Completed dance guest permission slips are due to your Assistant Principal’s Office by Wednesday, January 30. Please remember to bring your student ID to the dance.

Columbia’s Freshman Class is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City on Saturday, April 6, 2019 that includes the option to see the Broadway performance of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” starring Jeff Jeff Daniels. Jostens will be at Columbia to take class jewelry orders at Parent Order Night on Wednesday, March 7 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. and in school on Thursday, March 8 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. A $50.00 deposit is due at ordering (cash/check/credit card accepted). Columbia yearbook pre-sales will close after April 14. The only way to guarantee you will receive a 2016-17 yearbook is to pre-order one. Yearbooks should arrive in early June.
