Health Insurance Review Committee

The purpose of the Health Insurance Review Committee is to comply with provisions in the agreements with the East Greenbush Teachers Association (EGTA) , East Greenbush Operations and Technical Supervisory Association (EGOTSA) , East Greenbush School-Related Personnel (SRP), Confidential Employees, (CONF) and East Greenbush Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA).  The provisions charge the Committee with exploring and gaining a better understanding of health insurance options available to the school district and its employees.  The Committee is purely advisory and without authority to agree to or require any changes to the health insurance requirements in the collective bargaining agreements.

Annual Objectives/Priority Areas

The Health Insurance Review Committee’s annual objectives and priority areas include:

• Create an open forum for labor and management representatives to discuss all aspects of district health insurance programs and explore options available to the district and its employees
• Provide a basic education and understanding of current industry trends as well as a working knowledge of the district’s specific health insurance benefits
• Create a team approach to ensure the district is effectively managing health insurance costs for their employees, retirees, the district and the tax paying public
• Invite guest presenters who have expertise in the health insurance industry and seek their recommendations to improve the district health insurance benefits program
• Follow up on concerns and issues raised as part of the Committee meetings
• Share Committee reports, information, process and best practices with other school districts, unless such information is personal or confidential
