The Backpack Program is designed to meet the weekend nutritional needs of students at risk of hunger. The program provides food on Fridays or as needed for students to ensure they have access to meals outside of school hours. Food is provided in discreet bags or backpacks to ensure anonymity.
All district schools participate in the program. It is funded entirely through community donations.
Donations
We welcome non-perishable food donations at any of our schools. We also organize regular collections of non-perishable food items that help stock the program.
If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to “East Greenbush Education Foundation” and include “Backpack Program” in the memo line.
Backpack Program Coordinators
If your family is in need of support, please contact the Backpack Program Coordinator from your school. Any assistance will be kept confidential.
