Capital Project

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a $116 million capital project that, if approved by voters, would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools at no additional cost to the local taxpayer. The proposed capital project will be a proposition on the School Budget Vote and Board Election ballot scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

DPS superhero reading assembly

The DPS staff presented the school’s summer reading program with a superhero theme.

Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School launched its summer reading program at a SUPER assembly! The superhero theme was developed because the Incredibles 2 movie is coming out for the summer and the staff hoped that tying in this theme would get students excited about reading.

This is the third year the teachers have performed for the students to help them understand the tasks associated with completing the reading program and how they can earn awesome prizes if they participate.

If students POWER their way through their summer reading, they have a chance to earn FANTASTIC prizes such as tickets to The Great Escape or ValleyCats, a Kindle, a book basket, or even a pizza party.

Although the prizes and theme are an exciting way to promote this program, the real goal is to prevent summer reading regression. The staff has and will continue to encourage students to read over the summer to keep their skills sharp and be AMAZING SUPER readers when they return to school in September!
