Green Meadow Named 2021 National Blue Ribbon School

Green Meadow Elementary School was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on Tuesday morning. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance. Green Meadow is one of only 325 schools in the country, including one of 19 schools in New York to receive the 2021 National Blue Ribbon School award. Congratulations to Green Meadow students, teachers, staff and families!

MuralSecond graders in Stephanie Gardinier’s class at Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School have been learning about different types of communities – urban, rural and suburban. To enhance the lessons in class, art teacher Mary Kay Ostwald worked with the students to create a cityscape mural, which is now hanging outside their room.

“We discussed that our school is in a rural community,” said Mrs. Gardinier, “so we wanted to show our kids what it would be like to look out the window and see something much different!”
