School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Dear Genet Families!

Happy Friday and Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you and your child(ren) had an enjoyable week with us at Genet! You could feel the excitement in the air with Valentine’s Day bringing our week to a close. Some students were tasked with a STEM design project of creating a Valentines Box made out of recycled materials and our students did not disappoint! I was impressed by the various and creative ideas our students created!

Mark Your Calendars!!! Informational flyers for Genet’s upcoming STEM Fair were sent home with students. We are looking forward to student participation in this wonderful school wide event! Please take a moment and review the details outlined in the flyer. The STEM Fair will take place on Wednesday, March 18th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

Reminders: One of the most important factors in determining student success is a student’s attendance at school. When students are frequently absent, they miss out on important activities, learning opportunities and student-teacher interactions that take place in the classroom. This can also have an impact on student learning when students are habitually tardy (coming in late or leaving early) to school. Please also remember to send your child(ren) in with a note upon their return to Genet. We look forward to a continued year of success working together and watching your child(ren) grow!

Updates from the Art Room, by Mrs. Letourneau
Winter break is an ideal time for your child to bring home their art smock to be washed, and please have them return it after break…we still have so much creative energy to be released in the months to come! Thank you!

Updates from the Physical Education Department, by Mr. Jones and Mr. Leyhane
After winter recess all PE classes will be starting the popular lacrosse unit. Students are allowed and encouraged to bring their own sticks in for the skills and drills.
