COVID-19 Updates and Information

Grades 3-5 will return for full time in-person learning starting Monday, April 26, which will fully reopen all elementary schools. The K-12 Full Remote program will still be available to families who choose that option. Due to state regulations, Columbia and Goff will remain in the Hybrid Model at this time. The East Greenbush CSD will continue to evaluate options for Columbia and Goff students to receive increased in-person learning at 6 feet social distancing where possible.

The East Greenbush Central School District was notified yesterday that a substitute employee from Bell Top Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee, who has not been at school since November 23, works the evening shift and has not had contact with students or staff.

There are no additional school-related contacts and no additional impact on the building. The individual is quarantined at home, in accordance with Rensselaer County Health Department guidance, and no further action is required of the district at this time.

This case is unrelated to the bus driver who tested positive for COVID-19 this past weekend.

As the number of cases of COVID-19 increases in our country and New York State, the district would like to remind everyone to maintain the strong habits we are developing as a school community:

  • Avoid large and small group gatherings such as parties or unstructured situations which bring people from different households into contact with each other.
  • Wear masks at all times when out in public, particularly when you cannot socially distance or when participating in such activities as club sports.
  • Wash hands with soap and water frequently and thoroughly. Use hand sanitizer when soap and water is not accessible.
  • Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and in the event someone is sick, stay at home and contact your primary care provider.

Those with questions are advised to call the county health department directly at 518-270-2655 or contact the district’s COVID-19 Coordinator at Columbia High School at 518-207-2180.
