Howard L. Goff Middle School will host its Elevation Celebration for graduating 8th grade students on Friday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Columbia High School gymnasium. Additional information about the event is listed below.
Q: Is there an Elevation Celebration rehearsal?
A: Yes, we will have multiple rehearsals during school hours in the Goff gymnasium. They will occur on Wednesday, June 21 and immediately following the Awards Assembly on Friday, June 23.
Q: Will students be receiving tickets for Elevation Celebration?
A: Four tickets will be mailed to each graduating 8th grade student. If you do not require all four tickets, please return them to the Principal’s office at Goff. Any unneeded tickets will be distributed to those families requesting additional tickets. If you would like to request additional tickets, please submit a written request and additional tickets will be granted as they become available. Written requests can be sent to Mrs. Corbett in the Principal’s office.
Q: What time is Elevation Celebration?
A: Elevation Celebration will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Columbia High School Gymnasium.
Q: What time do students need to be at CHS for Elevation Celebration?
A: Students need to arrive at the Columbia High School Auditorium by 6:15 p.m. in order to arrange the line-up and procession into the gymnasium. This will allow us to start the evening celebration promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Q: What is the length of the Elevation Celebration?
A: The ceremony will last approximately one hour.
Q: How early should guests arrive?
A: Guests should arrive no earlier than 6:15 p.m. Please try to be seated by 7:00 p.m. Late arrivals will be admitted, but will be seated toward the rear of the gymnasium. Other than ushers and monitors, there will be no standing in the back of the gymnasium.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Appropriate attire is suggested – dresses or dress pants and a collared shirt (with or without a tie).
Q: Can photos be taken during the ceremony?
A: There will be NO PHOTOS allowed during the ceremony. A professional photographer will be present to take a photograph of each graduate as they receive their certificate. A copy of the photograph will be provided to each family free of charge. The photos will be available for pick up approximately 4 weeks after the event along with information should you wish additional copies. We will post the announcement on the Howard L. Goff website when the pictures have arrived. Photos that are not picked up will be sent to Columbia High School the third week in August for their Freshman Orientation Day.
