A Genet student portrays Frederick Douglas at the school's interactive wax museum.Fourth grade students took on the roles of famous historical and contemporary figures such as Paul Revere, Frederick Douglass, Amelia Earhart and Jane Goodall at Genet Elementary School’s annual Interactive Wax Museum on Friday. Students stood in front of poster boards that they designed and wore costumes to portray their chosen figure. As classmates, staff and families approached them, the students introduced themselves and spoke about their historical significance.

More than 60 students participated in the project, which was coordinated by 4th grade teachers Liz Corey, Cassidy Craig, Joan Davis and Jenna Turnbull.

“Our wax museum is a highlight for our students to end the school year with us each year and is a creative tool to help students learn about researching, taking notes, and writing a multi-paragraph biography,” Mrs. Turnbull said. “It also gives us the opportunity to work on public speaking in a meaningful manner.”
