Fifth grade students at Genet Elementary School walked across the stage for a final time on Wednesday morning as they received graduation certificates in front of their families. The celebratory event marked the end of elementary school as they move on to Howard L. Goff Middle School in September.
During the ceremony, the 5th grade teachers, Superintendent Jeff Simons and Principal Wayne Grignon congratulated the students. They also shared some helpful advice as the students start a new chapter in their lives.
Mr. Grignon spoke to the students about their accomplishments and how they should try and be their own superheroes and act as forces for good.
“One of the great things about superheroes is that they all have the same goal: To make the world a better place,” said Mr. Grignon. “However, each superhero has quirks and qualities that make him or her unique. This class exemplifies many of the qualities of Spider-Man, but I urge you all to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try new things that will only help you continue to grow as individuals and as a class. As you enter middle school and become the 6th Grade Class of 2023, look to unite your special qualities with the other four elementary schools and assemble your own Superhero Team – look for a Batman, a Superman, or a Captain America.”
At the end of the ceremony, the 5th graders performed the song “A Million Dreams.”
Congratulations!
