School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Regeneron volunteers at Bell TopVolunteers from Regeneron visited Bell Top Elementary School last week to give of their time and skills as part of their annual Day For Doing Good (D4DG) initiative. The Bell Top school community received the benefits of various projects around the school, including:

  • Clearing the nature trail and cross country trail
  • Beautifying the grounds around monuments
  • Weeding out and clearing around the Monarch butterfly station
  • Weeding and clearing the landscape by the front sign
  • Making needed repairs on the Learning Barn (replacing rotted wood boards on exterior, securing floor boards to make them safer to walk on and installing string lights inside)

Planning for these projects began last spring when Principal Martin Mahar met with representatives from D4DG.

Regeneron paid for all of the materials and their employees completed the work as volunteers. Two Bell Top parents – AnneMarie Bailey-Yavonditte and Ashley Giambrone – served as project team leaders.

“The Bell Top School community is grateful for the Regeneron volunteers who gave generously of their time and skills to help us restore and beautify our Learning Barn, nature trail and grounds,” said Mr. Mahar. “These efforts will help our school to continue on with the cherished traditions that are near and dear to the students and staff. We have been fortunate to receive the support of Regeneron and the D4DG program many times and hope this community partnership continues for years to come.”
