School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Genet Principal Wayne Grignon was turned into a human ice cream sundae by students in celebration of meeting the school fundraising goal.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Principal Grignon to be turned into ice cream! And that is precisely what happened on Friday morning at the end of Genet Elementary School’s Morning Program.

Students roared with laughter as they watched classmates fling spoonfuls of whipped cream and hurl handfuls of rainbow and chocolate sprinkles at Mr. Grignon, transforming him into a human ice cream sundae.

The fun activity was a celebration for the school raising $42,000 through the Jaguar Jog earlier this fall. That money will be used by the PTO to pay for enrichment activities, guest authors, field trips and more.

Special thanks to the PTO for organizing the ice cream sundae celebration and to Mr. Grignon for being a good sport!
