Questar STEM High School Principal Kim Sparkman speaking at a Goff Middle School assembly.

Questar STEM High School Principal Kim Sparkman shares information about Questar III BOCES high school programs at a Goff Middle School assembly.

Howard L. Goff Middle School 8th graders learned about the many academic options available to them in high school during an assembly on Thursday morning in the school gym. Representatives from Columbia High School, as well as, Questar STEM High School, Questar New Visions, Tech Valley High School and Nurses Middle College Charter High School presented information about their programs.

“It is a real testament to your school’s commitment to helping all students find the experiences that are best suited for them by hosting events like this,” said Kim Sparkman, principal of Questar STEM High School.

The assembly was organized by Family and Consumer Science Teacher Debreen Oliva and School Counselor Sharon Dunn.

“The steps students take through self-discovery and career exploration naturally lead to a discussion about required training and education,” said Mrs. Oliva. “This is a good opportunity for all students to be exposed to these options so they can begin to see how the high school experience supports their goals and plans for their future.”
