Internet safety presentation at DPS

Educator with Crime Victim Services for St. Peter’s Health Partners discusses internet safety and bullying prevention with DPS students.

Fourth and fifth grade students at Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School attended a presentation on the topic of Internet Safety, Bullying and Cyberbullying on Wednesday. The presentation was led by Adriana D’Orazio, a Community Liaison and Prevention Educator with Crime Victim Services from St. Peter’s Health Partners.

Students shared their thoughts on what it means to be a leader and talked about safety and the consequences of the internet and social media.

The engaging workshop was organized by School Social Worker Tiffany Rineheimer and addressed topics of health, safety and social-emotional learning.

“We are hopeful that this program engaged students to learn about how to use social media in a safe and productive way, teach them ways to be responsible on social media, how to be mindful of content that can be harmful to themselves or others, and educate them on the topic of bullying and the role of a bystander,” said Mrs. Rinehimer.

Ms. D’Orazio also visited DPS in November when she presented Child Safety Matters to all students.
