School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

The Goff Garden Shed has a new roof thanks to a local company. The roof that was in disrepair was replaced for free by Phelps Brothers Roofing over the Holiday Recess.

“The job itself took one day to complete,” said Rob Phelps, owner of Phelps Brothers Roofing. “The roof was in bad shape due to some improper installation and it rotted a lot of the plywood decking over time. We removed all of the existing shingles and hauled them away, replaced a good portion of the plywood and installed new underlayment and shingles.”

Garden Club provides opportunities for rich cross-curricular connections. Students learn about plants and flowers, nutrition, and caring for the environment, along with documenting plant growth.

During the colder months, students grow house plants, keep a garden journal, and research and design garden plans for the spring. Once it gets warm, students plant and take care of numerous vegetable plants and wildflowers.

“We are so appreciative of Phelps Roofing,” said Goff Garden Club Advisor Kimberly DiGiorgi. “This local company stepped up in a big way and we are beyond thankful.”
