School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Bell Top Bus Drivers holding thank you cards outside of school

School bus drivers and staff from the Transportation Department were invited to an appreciation breakfast at Bell Top Elementary School on March 8.

School bus drivers who serve Bell Top Elementary School were treated to a special breakfast following their morning runs on Friday. Once the students disembarked the buses and entered school, the drivers walked a red carpet into the faculty room where a breakfast buffet was laid out for them by the Bell Top teachers, staff and PTO.

The event featured a Clue theme, with music from the 1985 movie playing and fun decorations and photos hung up on the walls.

Each of the drivers sat down to breakfast at a long table and received a goodie bag and a poster-sized thank you card from the students on their bus routes. They also took photos in front of a police lineup backdrop.

“This is a tradition that was started prior to Covid and we are so happy to have the opportunity to show our Transportation Team again how much they are appreciated!” said Bell Top 3rd Grade Teacher Tara Thompson, who coordinated the event with 2nd Grade Teacher Jill Ann Wilkes.
