Genet Elementary School offers two sessions of Coding Club each school year. The club is open to students in grades 3-5 and teaches students about coding through various activities and projects.
Session I – Fall
Advisor: Mrs. Virnelli
Meets once a week for 8 weeks
The students in this first session are beginners and introduced to coding with Ozobots. Ozobots can be coded with drawn lines or with an online program that uses a drag and drop code. The students begin to learn the mechanics of coding and some of the basic commands. Students have races and dance contests with the Ozobots as they develop their skills.
Session II – Spring
Advisor: Mrs. Virnelli
Meets once a week for 8 weeks
This session is for students who already have some experience with coding or who have taken the beginner session. In this session, students meet once a week for eight weeks and use programs such as Scratch and code.org to expand on their understanding of coding.
