Capital Project

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a $116 million capital project that, if approved by voters, would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools at no additional cost to the local taxpayer. The proposed capital project will be a proposition on the School Budget Vote and Board Election ballot scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Letter from Principal Garab – June 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the school year comes to a close I’d like to take the opportunity to inform you about some end of the year events and other important information.

On Tuesday, June 21st, the school-wide picnic will be held. The PTO is generously supplying hamburgers and hot dogs for the picnic. Our talent show will be held in the afternoon. This should be a fun day for all!

This is a special time of year for our fifth grade students as they finish up their elementary school experience. Last week they took their class trip to the Great Escape. They were joined by fifth graders from Red Mill and Genet. The weather cooperated and everyone had a great time! The Grade 5 Moving Up Ceremony will be held in our gymnasium on Wednesday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. We look forward to this memorable moment!

On Thursday, June 23rd, New York State Senator Kathleen Marchione and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Angela Nagle will be presenting several East Greenbush teachers with the NYS Senate Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence. Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Linda Kaminski on receiving this well-deserved award!

If grade level enrollments remain the same for the 2016-2017 we are tentatively slated to have three sections of kindergarten through fifth grade. During the summer, we often have students moving into and out of our school vicinity and adjustments may need to be made. This will be monitored very closely over the summer. As was done the past several years, your child’s teacher assignment will be mailed home in mid-August.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce we have four staff members retiring at the end of the school year:

  • Nancy Boucher, Classroom Teacher
  • Bobbi Hammond, Physical Education Teacher
  • Jill Leinung, Librarian
  • Bill Smith, Head Custodian

All of these individuals have served Green Meadow Elementary School in a professional and effective manner. They will each leave a big set of shoes to fill and will be missed greatly. I wish them all much happiness as they enter into retirement and thank them for having a positive impact on the students in the East Greenbush Central School District over many years.

I want to thank our school community for the outstanding support and pride that is so much a part of our school. I look forward to working with you to make the 2016-2017 school year another great success. Working together, we can continue to provide our students with a wonderful educational experience. Have great summer!

Sincerely,

Daniel Garab
Principal
