All East Greenbush CSD schools will have a half day on Friday, April 26 due to professional development. Dismissal Times: Columbia (10:03 a.m.), Goff (10:40 a.m.), Pre-K at DPS/Genet/Green Meadow/Red Mill (10:45 a.m.), Genet (11:15 a.m.), Bell Top (11:30 a.m.), DPS (11:30 a.m.), Green Meadow (11:30 a.m.), Red Mill (11:30 a.m.).

NYSPRA logoEast Greenbush Central School District won statewide recognition from the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) on Sunday for awards in writing.

  • Auggie is a Student’s Best Friend (Excellence in Writing)
    Introduced Auggie the new therapy dog to the Bell Top Elementary School community. The story described how Auggie is being utilized in school – counseling sessions, reading support services, and most importantly, how he brings more joy to Bell Top students.
  • Campaign Video for Congressional Candidate Goes Viral (Excellence in Writing)
    An engaging school project intersected with history as Columbia High School social studies students created an animated campaign video for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. A student tweeted the video to the candidate on election night and within minutes, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez retweeted the video to her, at that time, nearly 1 million followers. The video went viral, and at the time of publication, the video had been viewed 149,000 times on Twitter. The story showed how an engaging school project led to students becoming more informed and excited about civic education.
  • Goff Middle School Addresses Hunger with New Backpack Program (Excellence in Writing)
    Announced a new backpack program at Goff Middle School that would provide low-income students with backpacks filled with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food over the weekends when they were not able to receive their free lunches at school.

Of the 513 entries from across the state in a variety of categories, about 35% received awards.

This is the fifth consecutive year East Greenbush CSD has been honored by NYSPRA.
