Local photographer Sandy Szemplinski has offered to take free senior portraits of students in the Columbia High School Class of 2020. Anyone interested should contact Ms. Szemplinski directly.

“During this time of uncertainty and a general feeling of helplessness we often look for ways we can offer our help and give back to our community. As we all are, I am sad for all the kids after hearing they won’t be returning to school to finish out the school year. This is especially heartbreaking for our seniors, but health and safety remain the priority, so it is understandable such a hard decision had to be what it is. I’m not a doctor, nurse, or even considered an essential worker, but what I can do is offer my gift of photography to any kids missing out on their senior portraits this year. I would be willing to arrange a socially distant senior portrait individual photo shoot for any graduating senior at no cost. Each senior’s photo would be digitally sent so there’s no contact. I know how important it is for the kids and families to have these memories from school so however I can help I’m willing.

I was inspired by a wonderful teacher, coach and friend to do this, so keep reaching out to people. Who knows something you say may just inspire them to step up. What a ripple effect this could have if we all do what we can. Please email me at sszempli@yahoo.com if you or anyone you know has a senior this year that may interested or if you’d like further information. The link to my website is below.”
