New York State Instructs Schools to Continue Mask Mandate

The East Greenbush Central School District has been made aware that a New York State judge on Long Island struck down Governor Hochul’s mask mandate yesterday. We understand from the State Education Department that the State of New York shall seek an appeal of the decision and seek a stay regarding the enforcement of the same. As a result, the State Education Department has stated that schools must continue to require the use of masks pending the final adjudication of the litigation.

East Greenbush CSD Now Accepting At-Home Tests for COVID-19

The East Greenbush CSD is now accepting at-home COVID-19 tests for students and employees. Up until this point, based on previous state and county guidance only lab-certified tests were accepted including rapid antigen, rapid molecular and PCR tests. Given their expanded availability, the acceptance of at-home tests will reduce delays in obtaining results and ensure more students can return to in-person instruction. Use of these tests will also help our district maintain adequate staffing levels and enhance our current mitigation practices.

East Greenbush CSD Remains Committed to In-Person Learning, Prepares Remote Learning Plan as Contingency

While the East Greenbush CSD is committed to continue full time in-person learning, we have created a Remote Learning Plan so we can be prepared to change instructional models if needed. We are not currently considering a switch to remote learning, but we feel it is important to be prepared should the need arise. We will do everything possible to maintain in-person learning for our students and families.
