Capital Project

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a $116 million capital project that, if approved by voters, would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools at no additional cost to the local taxpayer. The proposed capital project will be a proposition on the School Budget Vote and Board Election ballot scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Dear Genet Families!

I sincerely hope you all had a wonderful week. I know we certainly had one here at Genet with all of our students regardless if they were reporting in-person or remotely. This past Wednesday, our Superintendent provided an update and report to the Board of Education on the current evaluation process of our district’s current instructional delivery model. I would like to thank all of our remote families for completing the survey regarding their plans for their children as we move closer to the close of the first term. If you haven’t completed the survey, you have until 5:00 PM on Friday, October 23rd to notify the district of your intent. If the survey is not completed, your child will continue with the full remote option for the second term. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Genet.

School Pictures Revisited
Adirondack School Pictures was at Genet on Friday for the in-person B cohort students and for remote students in Grades K-2 3:30-5:00 p.m. Our next photo opportunity is on Monday, October 26 for in-person A Day Students. Remote students in Grades 3-5 will run from 3:30-5:00 p.m. on October 26.

Halloween
As a reminder, restrictions keep us from dressing up and holding our annual Halloween Costume Parade this year. We will still show our Halloween spirit by wearing orange and black at school on Thursday, 10/29 (A day students) and Friday, 10/30 (B day students). Families that are looking to provide snacks or drinks for classroom parties can do so by first contacting their child’s teacher. On the day your child reports to school, you may come to the main entrance of Genet and drop off any materials to a staff member.

In order to ensure the safety of everyone here at Genet, we ask that you please provide treats or snacks that are store bought. Homemade goods will not be accepted. Staff will have gloves and additional materials to pass out cupcakes and other treats.

Please make sure your treats or drinks are labeled with your child’s name and teacher if you are dropping off on either day. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the main office at Genet.

Emergency Go Home Drill
The annual Emergency Go Home Drill will take place on 11/9 and 11/10 this year. You should have received a letter with details regarding this drill dated October 16, 2020. All students will be dismissed 15 minutes early on these days and are expected to go to the emergency location listed on the verification form, so please plan accordingly. If you are unsure what location you have listed on your child’s form, please contact Mrs. Giordano in our main office at (518) 207-2681 or by email at giordasa@egcsd.org.

Health Reminder and Immunizations
Please continue to fill out the daily COVID Screening Form. This must be completed everyday, for each student. Our office staff will contact parents if the screening form has not been completed. We ask that you make an effort to complete this form prior to 8:30 a.m. The form can be found at: https://entrv.neric.org/egcsd.

Immunizations
The school nurses and I have been making calls to families that have not provided updated immunization information. For students who attend school in person, the deadline has passed that has been set by New York State Department of Education. If we do not receive an updated immunization sheet, your child will no longer be able to attend school.

For families who are on full remote, your deadline to provide the Health Office an updated copy of your child’s immunization record is November 12th. If your child is not fully vaccinated by that time, they will be unable to attend virtual school.

If there are any questions regarding these items, please contact our health office directly by calling (518) 207-2684.

That concludes this week’s Genet Journal! I wish you all the best this weekend and next week. Thank you for your continued support of Genet Elementary School!

Sincerely,

Wayne Grignon
Principal
