East Greenbush CSD parents are invited to attend “Escape the Vape,” a free event about vaping health risks on Wednesday, October 19 at the SHAC Community Center in Averill Park.

Vaping has become one of the most popular forms of substance use amongst young people. The amount of nicotine in vapes is extremely high: nicotine is almost as addictive as heroin, especially to teen brains. Out of all the substances you have ever heard of, heroin is the most addictive and nicotine is the 2nd most addictive.

Program:

  • 6:30-7:00 p.m. – Information Tables sponsored by The Rensselaer County Dept. of Mental Health-Student Assistance Program, The Rensselaer County Health Department, Capital District Tobacco Free Communities, NOpiates Committee, Sky High Adventures and Students Against Destructive Decisions
  • 7:00-8:00 p.m. – Information sessions on vaping health risks, addiction, and quit plans/interventions

The event is being presented by the grassroots organization Nopiates. Child care will be provided by SADD students.
