All of the fifth graders from around the East Greenbush Central School District gathered at Schodack Island State Park in Castleton on Tuesday for the 5th Grade Mixer. It was an opportunity to meet students from other schools and get to know each other before they start 6th grade at Howard L. Goff Middle School in September.
Students rotated through different stations that included kickball, volleyball, lawn games, the playground, lunch under the pavilion and other cooperative activities.
The event was sponsored by the East Greenbush Education Foundation.
“The Education Foundation works hard to create an environment where the schools and the community come together to create activities for students to enrich their appreciation for learning and to help them realize what a great community they live in,” said Steve Taylor, president of the East Greenbush Education Foundation. “We hope the fifth graders enjoyed the day as much as we did.”
Special thanks to the fifth grade teachers and staff, parent volunteers, Transportation Department and the Education Foundation Board members who assisted with the event.
