School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Green Meadow Elementary School’s youngest learners have some new buddies at school. The pre-k class taught by Brianna Stauder paired up with Michelle Baldwin’s 3rd grade class for some fun activities that involved penguins and polar bears.

The activity called “Buddies with Baldwin” paired pre-k students with third graders to learn about non-standard units of measuring. Students measured penguins with an ice cube ruler while others used a life-like sized polar bear foot to measure items around the classroom. They even compared the polar bear foot print to the size of a four year old student’s foot!

At the end of the activity, the third grade students read books about penguins and polar bears to the pre-k students.
