The Columbia Kicks Cancer team led by Patrick Donnelly ’24, Cole Durivage ’24 and Corey Hamilton ’24 won the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2024 Student Visionaries of the Year by raising more than $90,000. The money will be donated to LLS for blood cancer research, treatment and care.
This marks the fourth year in a row that Columbia students have raised money for LLS.
Mr. Donnelly, Mr. Durivage and Mr. Hamilton led a team of other students and their parents to organize fundraisers such as sports clinics for children, Dine to Donate events at local restaurants, and a Wear Red Day at East Greenbush CSD elementary schools.
The Columbia Kicks Cancer team was recognized at the LLS Student Visionaries of the Year Gala on Thursday evening at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy.
“I thought the whole process was so rewarding and I loved seeing how the community came together to support such a great cause,” Mr. Donnelly said. “Throughout, we were continually reminded of why we were doing it when people reached out to us and shared their stories which motivated us to work even harder.”
Congratulations to the entire team!
