Seven Teams Compete in Odyssey of the Mind Region 4 Tournament

School Budget Vote and Board Election - Tuesday, May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. The proposed budget, totaling $111,660,557, would maintain current average class sizes, expand the Pre-K Program from 97 students to 165 students, continue the district’s 1:1 chromebook program and upgrade the wireless network and other technology systems.

After a one-day delay due to weather, seven teams from the East Greenbush Central School District took part in the Odyssey of the Mind Region 4 Tournament on March 24 in Coxsackie-Athens.

The Primary team, grades K-2, from Donald P. Sutherland performed in a non-competitive manner. Of the six competitive teams, five of East Greenbush’s teams had top-three finishes, and all of those five teams will be going on to the state competition in Syracuse on April 13.

One team from Citizen Genet, Problem 3, “Classics… Opening Night Antic,” won 1st place in their category. For that same problem, Green Meadow’s team took 5th place. The two teams competing for Problem 2 “AI Tech-No-Art” also medaled, with Donald P. Sutherland taking home the gold, and Red Mill earning 2nd place. Donald P. Sutherland’s Team, Problem 1, “Drive-in Movie” placed second, and in Problem 5, “Rocking World Detour,” Green Meadow’s team won 3rd place.

“We rely on wonderful parent and teacher volunteer coaches to work with our students to prepare great problem-solving performances each year,” said the district’s Odyssey of the Mind coordinator Julie Adadjo. “We would love to have more volunteers to run even more teams, and hope they will reach out to us to see how they could coach a team next year.”
