School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Goff 8th Grade Band at NYSSMA Majors
The Howard L. Goff Middle School 8th Grade Band earned a Silver Rating at the NYSSMA Majors Festival on Wednesday in the Columbia High School auditorium. The band performed three songs, including:

  • “Gale Force” by Larry Neeck
  • “Chasing Sunlight” by Cait Nishamura
  • “Cornerstone March” by Tyler Arcari

“The students worked very hard to get ready for Majors and played great today,” said Goff 8th Grade Band Director David Bresnahan.

According to the NYSSMA rating scale, a Silver Rating is “awarded to organizations that have demonstrated an excellent level of technical and artistic skill in each of the evaluative categories identified, for all three selections. Any weaknesses will not have resulted in any major detraction from the overall musical performance given. Commendations will be given for those categories meriting special recognition. Recommendations for improvement in related categories will be given to guide the group in further developing their music performance skills.”

Congratulations!
