Green Meadow ElementaryDear Green Meadow Families,

I hope you have been enjoying the summer months. As we head into the end of August it signals a new school year will be starting shortly.  I am looking forward to welcoming students back into the building. To all of our new families, I extend a very warm welcome to the Green Meadow community. I am confident that you will find Green Meadow to be a warm and caring place that provides an outstanding education to all of our learners.

The first day of school for students in grades 1-5 will be Thursday, September 6th. Bus route information is enclosed for your reference. Route information can also be found on the school district website at www.egcsd.org/departments/transportation/bus-routesStudents in kindergarten should be transported to school by their parents on September 6th and plan on being at school with their child during the time period indicated on the enclosed teacher assignment letter. The first full day of school for kindergarten students will be Friday, September 7th. Kindergarten teachers will be mailing parents a detailed information packet regarding the kindergarten program in late August. You may also refer to the information you received at the kindergarten screening in the spring.

General supply lists for all grade levels are posted on the Green Meadow website. The school website can be accessed at www.egcsd.org/green-meadow-elementary. Supply lists are posted in the “Parent Information” section.

In an effort to enhance the safety of our schools, the East Greenbush Central School District will be implementing a new visitor management system titled, Raptor, in all seven of the district’s buildings. This will require all visitors to present an approved identification and be processed at the main entrance prior to entry in the building. More detailed information regarding this system will be forthcoming from the Central Office.

We have a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Green Meadow Elementary School. They support our students and staff in so many meaningful ways. If you are not already actively involved, I encourage you to do so. Please click on the PTO link on the Green Meadow website to sign up for text and email alerts regarding PTO items.

The PTO will be hosting the annual Welcome Back Picnic on Friday, September 7th beginning at 5:00 p.m. In the event of inclement weather it will be held indoors. This event is a great way for families to get together after a long summer. I look forward to seeing you at the picnic!

I am confident that the 2018-2019 school year will prove to be another successful year. Please enjoy the remaining days of summer. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Daniel G. Garab
Principal
