East Greenbush Central School District students raised $366.00 for local animal shelter Peppertree Rescue on Saturday morning as part of the Student Advisory Council’s 3rd annual Dog Wash and Walk fundraiser at the East Greenbush Town Park.
The event was organized by students in grades 5-12 who comprise the Student Advisory Council. They work with Superintendent Jeff Simons to develop leadership skills and bring positive changes to their schools and communities.
During the event, the students accepted donations, washed dogs at two different stations and took them for walks around the park.
“I am so impressed by our students who make this event a reality each year,” Mr. Simons said. “Through their planning, organization and hard work, they are making a difference in the community. Most importantly, they are learning the value of giving back at a young age.”
The Student Advisory Council has raised nearly $2,000 for Peppertree Rescue from its Dog Wash and Walk fundraiser events.
