Voter Information and Eligibility

The annual School Budget vote and Board of Education election is held each year on the third Tuesday in May. This year it will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

Who can vote

Voters must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the East Greenbush Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the vote. You do not need to own property in the school district to be eligible to vote.

Voter registration

Because there are multiple polling sites, New York State law requires you to register before you are permitted to vote. If you have voted in a school election within the last four years, you are already registered to vote.

Residents may register to vote at the Office of the District Clerk, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on regular days of business. Please bring picture identification, such as a driver’s license, with a current address. If you have moved, please also bring other means of residential identification, such as a utility bill, phone bill or other official document.

The District also welcomes residents to vote in the school election who have already registered to vote with the Rensselaer County Board of Elections. At the time of the school election, the District will request voter completion of a school registration card for our records.
