Green Meadow and Genet Elementary Schools collected more than 6,000 cans during their “Soup”er Bowl can drive to benefit local food pantries.

“I’m so proud of both the Green Meadow and Genet school communities for supporting such a great cause,” said Green Meadow Principal Dan Garab. “The students really had fun with this important initiative.”

Thanks to the support of students, their families and staff, Green Meadow will donate 3,244 cans to CoNSERNS-U and Genet will donate 2,765 cans to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.

“I am so proud of our students and their efforts in the Soup-er Bowl,” said Genet Principal Ana Yeomans. “Many of our children used their own money, earned from chores and allowances, to buy soup for the Regional Food Bank. They learned the real meaning of giving and of expressing empathy for others in need.”
