Dear Genet Families!

I hope you are all doing well and your child(ren) had a wonderful time at Genet this week. The district is continuing to evaluate the current instructional delivery model, as was discussed at this past Wednesday’s Board of Education Meeting. There was a survey that was sent out to families regarding the return of students back to school or if they will continue with the fully remote option. Please take a moment to complete this survey by next Friday, October 23rd.

Genet Virtual Open House
I want to thank our families for attending our Virtual Open House yesterday evening. I hope you found the presentations to be informative and many of your questions were answered. If you have questions regarding school, please feel free to email your child’s teacher.

School Pictures Update
Adirondack School Pictures will be taken on Friday, October 23 for B Day Students and Monday, October 26 for A Day Students. For our Remote Students, we have arranged for the picture crew to stay until 5:00 PM on the 23rd and 26th of October. Pictures for remote students will run 3:30-5:00 PM on those days. To help prevent overcrowding, we will schedule the remote students as follows:

  • Grades K-2 on Friday, October 23rd 3:30-5:00 PM
  • Grade 3-5 on Monday, October 26th, 3:30-5:00 PM

Halloween
While restrictions keep us from dressing up and holding our annual Halloween Costume Parade this year, we will still show our Halloween spirit by wearing orange and black at school on Thursday, 10/29 (A day students) and Friday, 10/30 (B day students).

Emergency Go Home Drill
The annual Emergency Go Home Drill will take place on 11/9 and 11/10 this year. You should have received a letter with details regarding this drill. All students will be dismissed 15 minutes early on these days and are expected to go to the emergency location listed on the verification form, so please plan accordingly. If you are unsure what location you have listed on your child’s form, please contact Mrs. Giordano in our main office at (518) 207-2681 or by email at giordasa@egcsd.org.

Health Reminder
Please continue to fill out the daily COVID Screening Form. This must be completed everyday, for each student. Our office staff will contact parents if the screening form has not been completed. We ask that you make an effort to complete this form prior to 8:30 a.m. The form can be found at: https://entry.neric.org/egcsd

As always, we ask that you call our main office to let us know your child will be absent and why. Additionally, New York State has issued updated guidance for students returning to school after illness. This information can be found on our website at: https://egcsd.org/2020/10/02/new-york-state-updates-return-to-school-requirements/

If you have any questions regarding student illness or return to school procedures, you may contact our school nurse, Margaret Condo, R.N., at (518) 207-2684.

That concludes this week’s Genet Journal! I wish you all the best this weekend and next week. Thank you for your continued support of Genet Elementary School!

Sincerely,

Wayne Grignon
Principal
