School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Two Columbia High School students were selected to this year’s NYSSMA All State Music Festival. Tyler Davis ’21 was selected to All State Jazz Ensemble on Saxophone and Brigid Mack ’21 was accepted to All State Treble Choir as an alto. Additionally, Ms. Mack was accepted into All Eastern.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the All State Music Festival will be held virtually on Sunday, April 11. The concert featuring both students will start that day at 4:00 p.m. and be available at the NYSSMA website.

Mr. Davis, who plays in Columbia’s Symphonic Band and Jazz Band, intends on majoring in computer information systems in college. He plans to continue playing music on the side.

Ms. Mack, who performs with Columbia’s Chamber Singers, plans to study music performance for vocals in college.

Congratulations!
